Sheepshead Bay, Part 2 of 3

Part 2 of filling in this section of Sheepshead Bay starts at a different train station. I got off at Gravesend-Neck Rd, which will branch off from what will turn into Ave W. As you can see, "Map My Walk" had a little heart attack with their satellites -- one of the drawbacks to using their maps. I don't know if other apps experience the same problems. It's generally good when I'm walk straight lines, but when I walk up and down streets, it occasionally has me walking through the middle of private homes.

No trespassing occured on this walk.

As per the map, this walk took place on February 15, 2023. Starting on Neck Rd and Ave W, I walked down E7 St, up Hubbard St, and down E6 St, to the hospital bus stop. And, of course, there were several tiny courts along the way. I almost circled through a parking lane that opened on two different blocks, but a young woman was walking a big dog, and I thought better of it.

First up was Ocean Ct between Hubbard and Ocean Parkway...

  

... and then back to Hubbard on the appropriately named and slightly longer Parkway Ct.

  

From E6 St, Manhattan Ct brings me back to Ocean Parkway. I don't think I've ever walked this side of Ocean Parkways before. As it is, I stayed on the homes side and not the pedestrian walkway next to the busy road.

  

Brighton Beach is closer than Manhattan Beach, and here is Brighton Ct. Back to E6 St.

  

And back to the hospital for whichever bus arrives first. Actually second. There's three buses, and only two of them go my way.

Prospect Heights: Atlantic, Pacific, Bergen

This wasn't one of my longer walks, but I took quite a few photos. And I could've taken a few more. The route took me from the Nostrand A station to Atlantic Ave, by way of Herkimer Place, to Classon (with a short side trip), then over to Pacific, down to Vanderbilt, over to Bergen, and finally 4th Ave and the Barclays train station. Forty-five minutes, including time for photos and peering into store windows and deciding if I was hungry. Screenshot of Map My Walk app I probably have to thank a student whom I overheard give a colleague of mine directions to get to Downtown Brooklyn from Williamsburg. She insisted that instead of getting the L to 8th Ave (Manhattan) and getting the A there, it would be quicker to take the L to Broadway Junction where the A, which is express, gets you downtown in 3 stops. Now Broadway Junction is a massive connection point, so I wasn't too sure about it. But since I only wanted to go to Nostrand Ave, I gave it a shot. Game

Sheepshead Bay, Part 3 of 3

Part 3 of filling in this section of Sheepshead Bay had me walking up Sheepshead Bay Road, and down East 11 Street, with a side quest down Lancaster Ave and back along Crawford Ave. Those two avenues are three blocks long, much larger than the average block breaker. I'm not done with Sheepshead Bay by any means. Just this section. The above map is a screenshot of the Map My Walk app, taken last Thursday, March 2, 2023. I started by walking up Sheepshead Bay Road where Ave Z cuts two triangular plots of land, like a bowtie. Only one has any greenspace though. Sheepshead Bay Rd merges into E 13th Street, which held a surprise for me. I saw a street sign for Margaret Court. I crossed over to look for this hidden street. On a map, I would've mistaken it for an alley full of garages or parking spaces. As you can see below, it has two rows of homes, which are numbered 1-22 for this block. Not 1301 - 1222 (f
