Walkin' In Brooklyn

I don't usually walk in the rain, unless it's to run errands. But in this case, I wanted to get out of the house on a Friday morning. The rain was mostly done, if I recall correctly. It didn't see like three miles but I guess it's because I only did a few blocks. I started off on the bus to Brooklyn College, but I got off at Ave I and Bedford Ave. I knew years ago, that I'd be rewalking these streets a lot. New York Ave is interrupting for housing between the freight line (the future IBX) and Flatbush Ave. There's a small piece between Flatbush and Ave I. The first three photos are facing north and facing south from Ave I. The third photo is just before Kings Highway. Walking down Kings Highway to East 34 Street, I came to Fraser Square, which I took pictures of when I walked a huge chunk of Kings Highway. The road circles around the square. Finished off some outstanding streets in Midwood. The first image is East 16th Street because there actually was one block that I hadn't done with all the moving around I'd been doing. Turning right, I covered the rest of Ave K all the way to Ocean Parkway and the cemetery. Down to Ave J to cover the streets between Elmwood Ave and the cemetery. There are a few dead end streets. There is a flag and a memorial stone on a little triangle piece of land (a gore, actually) where Ave J and Bay Parkway meet at East 5th Street. The stone says, "The Parkville Community pays homage to those of its neighbors who served in the armed forces in defense of our country." FYI, I added "Parkville" as a label for the blog. Working my way eastward, I'm up to East 32nd Street, which I arrived at by Q train (or B train?) and headed south to Kings Highway. Martense St is parallel and between Linden Blvd and Church Ave and runs from Coney Island Ave to New York Ave, which was a block past East 32 St. Right off Coney Island Ave, there's a small court, Martense Court. I took a couple of photos. I liked the brick fence, and it was a pity that it was sanitation day. Two more interesting photos. First, a picture of the old-style homes with the modern skyscrapers stretching up on Linden Blvd not that far away. Second, I like towers on houses. They're cool. A man's home is his castle and all that. And the sun is in the picture. Finally, the last picture is the end of the line: New York Ave is in the distance.
