Harrison / Porter / Thames / Vandervoot / Noll / George / Varet

There's another video farther down when I hit a certain street with a fun name. In the meantime . . . This was another late start day for me -- I was still on early schedule for testing, but I didn't need to be in early for anything, so I got my walk in before school started. The trip started getting off the Morgan Ave station on the L train at the Boart Ave exit. There's a building here as opposed to just a staircase on the Morgan Ave side. The second picture was taken by accident -- I left it in because it amuses me. Also, why is there no sky? I no that it's January and there are clouds, but still, the background seems too white! The third picture is Harrison Place, which I took to the end at Varick Place. From Varick, I walked up to Johnson Ave so that I could swing around to the start of Porter Ave. I took this to the end at Flushing Ave. Walking east, I got to a crazy "five points" intersection, which is where Thames Stre...

Moore / Grattan / Melrose / Myrtle

The last official walk of the year. If I rememeber correctly, it started to rain so I stopped at 2.99 miles. As it was, I'd already walked that left stretch of Myrtle before, but it was the most convenient train station. The M train would've brought me back to Manhattan and easily added more than a half hour to my trip home. This Friday in December was a good time to finish off some of the streets closer to work. I also stumbled across Buskwick Court, which appears to be a private street, but it has a name and I had access, so I walked in and out. Moore Street only runs two blocks from Bushwick to Bogart. The first block has been renamed Reverend Doctor Jeremiah Fennell St. In 1966, the Rev. Dr. Fennell was appointed Pastor of the Mount Calvary Church, and in 1978 was appointed Presiding Elder of Liberia, West Africa, where he organized 23 churches. He was also the founder and general chairman of the Fennell Day Care Center, which continues to operate to this day. ...

Johnson / St. Nicholas / Gates Aves / Broadway

A quick walk through East Williamsburg, marking off one more street, to get to Flushing Ave and cross into Bushwick. I also finished off another piece of Broadway without overshooting the last subway stop before Broadway Junction like I did the last time. First up was Johnson Ave, starting at Morgan Ave, heading east to the end. Johnson is on the other side of the tracks and the first street below this spur of Newton Creek. At Johnson and Scott, there was one business reading for Halloween. A quick walk down Flushing brought me to St. Nicholas Ave. The building that looks like a church front isn't listed on Google Maps as anything other than an address on the corner of Harman Street. A block down Bleeker Street took me to Wyckoff, which I took to Gates Ave. Once on Gates Ave, it was off to Broadway. There was one building that stood out to me, so I took a picture of it. And, finally, a photo of Chauncey Street...
