Walkin' In Brooklyn

Yes, I've fallen months behind again. Sorry for the lack of updates as school began in September once again. Continuing down the L line seemed to be the way to go. At least, it did back in May. I still hadn't realized how long traveling on the L line actually took! Before we start: here's a little birdie. What's so special about the birdie? Well, I was walking to work about about seven in the morning, and it literally fell out of tree in front of me. It just missed me by inches (maybe 12-20 inches, but inches). At first, I thought it was dead. Then it's head popped up. I didn't have any gloves or anything that I could use to move it, and I was wasn't going to touch it otherwise. With my luck, it'd peck my hand and fly away and then what? Heading down East New York Ave ... on purpose. A pretty straightforward walk, mainly down two streets. ... And a little plug for A Bucket Full of Moonlight I've covered part of East New York Ave before, but the L train was still the best place to start the trip. I have no idea what that building is (Google Maps doesn't label it) but it belongs to the NYPD. The razor on top of the walls caught my attention. The third photo is the 3 train emerging from Utica Ave on its way to Livonia. I can't find this playground on the map, but it must be somewhere between the train and where Empire Blvd splits off from East New York Ave. A block later at Utica Avenue, East New York Ave splits for a block as well. I stood at the corner of East New York Ave and East New York Ave, as mentioned in the video above. After some inclement weather, I finally got out again. This time, it was back to Brownsville and Blake Ave. After that, it was up and down (north and south) on the side streets between East New York Ave and E 98 Street (which meet almost at a right angle to each other). The obligatory shot of the rail line that may one day become the IBX. After that, it was two blocks of Junius Street. The squiggle is because I made a quick stop into some kind of dollar store that's over there. And then I set off west of Blake Ave. I don't know why I don't have a photo down Blake Ave (maybe there was traffic, and then I forgot?) but here's a picture of the New York City Housing Authority Van Dyke Community Center. Something about the building caught my attention. I didn't know what it was until I checked online. Another building that is more (or less?) than meets the eye.
