Nostrand, New York Ave, Park Place, Underhill, Carroll St

I've been down this stretch of Nostrand Ave before, but it was a quicker ride from work on the G train that the last couple of attempts to take to L to Broadway Junction and the A back to Nostrand. I walked an extra 12 blocks but I still made better time. Thankfully, the entire walk was under four miles. The worst part was that I was meeting someone at Grand Army Plaza to purchase something, and I thought I'd have plenty of time to get there. I had to hustle for the last 6 or 8 blocks or so. The first picture is the beginning of New York Avenue, which I only took until I reached Park Place, another street that I needed to complete in Prospect Heights. But on the way I crossed Atlantic Ave and found myself at a staircase to get to the LIRR. I wonder how much it would be from here to the Atlantic terminal. After that, a few interesting buildings. A lot of great-looking houses on Park Place, each set a little different from the previous bunch. Since ...

Pacific, Rogers, St. Marks, Classon, Eastern Parkway, President

A walk from Crown Heights through Prospect Heights and into Park Slope is interrupted by a group of tourists in from of the Brooklyn Museum who aren't even going to the Museum! That video will be included below, but first an intro. Once again, I found myself on Nostrand Ave. And once again, the trip was way too long. It should have been quicker, but the usually reliable A train had a 10-minute wait. Had I realized, I would've hurried to the local that was just about to leave Broadway Junction when I got there. Once again, (as stated in the video above) I could've made it quicker had I just taken the G train and walked the extra dozen blocks or so. But my trip down Nostrand was only going as far as Pacific Street. The first two pictures are of the one block I walked before turning left onto Bedford and Rogers Aves. That's St. Bartholomew's on the right. You have to love a tower. ...

Prospect Heights: Atlantic, Pacific, Bergen

This wasn't one of my longer walks, but I took quite a few photos. And I could've taken a few more. The route took me from the Nostrand A station to Atlantic Ave, by way of Herkimer Place, to Classon (with a short side trip), then over to Pacific, down to Vanderbilt, over to Bergen, and finally 4th Ave and the Barclays train station. Forty-five minutes, including time for photos and peering into store windows and deciding if I was hungry. Screenshot of Map My Walk app I probably have to thank a student whom I overheard give a colleague of mine directions to get to Downtown Brooklyn from Williamsburg. She insisted that instead of getting the L to 8th Ave (Manhattan) and getting the A there, it would be quicker to take the L to Broadway Junction where the A, which is express, gets you downtown in 3 stops. Now Broadway Junction is a massive connection point, so I wasn't too sure about it. But since I only wanted to go to Nostrand Ave, I gave it a shot. Game...
