11th-18th Sts, 4th-5th Aves, Park Slope
Back to Park Slope to fill in more of the grid. If you noticed the odd starting point (not the G train station), I had to stop at Duffy's Funeral Home. Family matters kept me from walking for a while. And family matters made me want to walk more than ever.
The walk was short as I'd already traversed many of the numbered streets between Fifth and Fourth Avenues when walking down the hill to the subway from the higher avenues toward the top of the slope.
I started on 11th Street, not far from the last place I lived in Park Slope, decades ago. I'd be walking against traffic, and there always seems to be traffic when I want an establishing shot.
The statue was in the front yard, the area that we used to call an "aerie" long before we knew how to spell that or even what the word actually meant. It was in the corner near the trash bins, so maybe they were getting rid of it. It's an interesting piece, to say the least.

Next up were 12th and 13th Streets. I took a picture of an older house that stood out a bit from the others. This is an example of what I mean about the neighborhood changing. I wonder how long this house will remain like this and when it might get torn down for something ugly ... I mean "modern".

Onto 14th and 16th, and another house that seems odd in the neighborhood, short and with a garage and then a gated driveway. Next to this is the Free Methodist Church.
I don't remember where on the block I saw this last guy, but he seems cool, like he wanted to get out.

Prospect Ave, with the exit to the Prospect Expressway on the left. And then 17th Street, with its on-ramp.
This block also has Iglesia Pentacostal Misionera.

Finally, 18th Street and the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church.
I seemed to pass quite a few churches (including St. Thomas Aquinas back on 9th Street) after walking out of the funeral home.

And that brought me back to the Fourth Ave and Prospect Ave where I caught an R train heading in the general direction I needed to go.
