Wilson / Morgan Aves
As the school year wound down and while state testing was taking place, I found myself with a later schedule. So I took advantage of my late start to get a walk in before work. This had the side benefit of avoiding 100+ temps after school (and that was NOT including humidity into the Heat Index!).
The downside of doing this is that is was hard to read my phone the way the lighting was (and my glasses were polarized) so I found it difficult to count the streets from Flushing Ave, and trying to tell what was a street and what was a driveway on the map wasn't easy either. In any event, I'd already walked down Harrison and McKibben before. I wasn't supposed to go down Harrison and I should've realized it when I saw the subway station and the park that I should've been one block south.
Oh, well, that can wait for next school year. After the summer is over.
I started by passing my stop and riding the train all the way to Wilson Ave. From there, it was a straight shot to Flushing Ave. Two mistakes were made here. First, it was still too hot for this walk. Second, it was mostly uphill.
First stop was Irving Square Park.

Crossing under Myrtle Ave was a little tricky. Construction is one thing, but the traffic on Wilson has to be careful to drive around a giant pillar in the middle of the intersection. Well, I guess, it has to go somewhere.
I had no idea what the building in the next picture was, but it looked cool and it had a tower. Looking it up online, I see that it's the 83rd Precinct Police Station and Stable. Had I known that, I would've looked for the horses. The funny thing is that I've passed this building before because I've already walked down DeKalb Ave.
The next picture is when the hill became as obvious as the sweat on the shirt that I was going to change when I got to work.

Next up, a picture of Mogran Ave and then a couple of Harrison Ave. I noticed my shadow, so I took a picture of it. Yes, I wore shorts to work, but I changed before I got there. (Actually, I put slacks on over my shorts. Then I changed in the mens room after I moved my timecard.)

Harrison Place ended at Bogart Street where you'll find a nicer entrance to the Morgan Ave L train that you will on Morgan Ave. (A bell should've gone off that I've been here before, but I've walked Bogart St before.) I mistakenly went to McKibben Street next and poked my head into Justice Gilbert Ramirez Park, which, again, I've been at before. I'll blame it on the heat, but I knew, I knew that I should be on a block south of the park. But it didn't click at the time. Likewise, I walked both Seigel Court and McKibbin Court, which I'd done before. By this point, if I had figured out I was in the wrong place, it was too late for me to backtrack.

After that, it was up Bushwick Ave to work, but I actually had a few minutes, so I shot down Grand Street to get a cup of coffee. Yes, it was hot, but my room is air-conditioned.
