Eramus / Lloyd / Veronica Pl / E 26 Street
This is the walk that reminded me that I need to be sure my phone is charged before I leave work! I have no idea why the battery would've run down because that's never a problem. Something must've been running while I was at school and I hadn't noticed. At any rate, I was almost at the end of my walk. I was a block away from Brooklyn College, and I had to get to Bedford Ave to catch a bus.
On the bright side, when I charged the phone and restarted the app, it had paused my walk at this point, and hadn't deleted it.
I'm venturing farther past Flatbush Ave into sections of Brooklyn that I've never been in before (that I remember). Basically, I was up to E 26 Street, but there are other short streets in the area that I had to swing around. In the end, the walk was under three miles, which is short for me these days.
Church Ave brought me to Bedford, which brought me to Erasmus. That was followed by a quick detour (not pictured). The last time I was on Erasmus, I was walking Woods Place and Lott Street. I was so annoyed by the garage that sticks out into the street on Woods Place and Snyder that I forgot to walk the piece of Snyder between Woods and Lott! I corrected for that today. (I should probably make a note of that on my Snyder post for eagle-eyed readers who notice what's missing on the map.)
I walked Erasmus to the end as it only runs from Bedford to Nostrand Aves (which is shorter than the Brooklyn College campus!). Then I did a 180 and walked back to Lloyd. Up one block to Church Ave, and I strolled west to Veronica Place.
Veronica Place runs from Church Ave to Cortelyou Road, where it shifts a little bit and becomes East 26 Street.
Just before Tilden Ave was the Rogers Tilden Veronica Place Block Association Community Garden. I guess you can figure out where on the map that is. It was founded in 1973. Not much more info was available about the garden.
End of the Veronica Place, and the start of East 26 Street. Once again, I took pictures of the houses along the way because my initial picture when I first start on a block isn't always representative. I liked the alcove on the top of that one home.
I was lucky to get one final picture. This is the intersection where Kenilworth Pl and Amersfort Pl begin -- at the intersection of Farragut Road and E 26 Street. I took one picture, meaning to get all the street into one frame when my phone died. I continued on E 26 to Campus Road and then caught my bus.
And that's it for this trip. Come back soon.
