Kingston / Park Place / New York Ave / Crown Street / Franklin Ave

Why did I zigzag so much? Who can say? I don't remember, but I'm sure it had to do with finishing something or filling in some streets on the map. The trip starting at Fulton means that I'd learned the trip of taking the L to Broadway Junction and then the A toward Manhattan, which was much faster than taking the L to 8th Ave and getting the A there.

More videos at the end.

Starting at Kingston and Fulton. I don't remember where they were smoking meat (or are they just grilling it?) but this was a sight I'd see in other places as I walked around the city. The third photo, I believe, is from the south side of Atlantic Avenue, where the scenery changes a little.

I turned west at Park Place and Brower Park.

The construction site at the corner of New York Ave (and much of the block before it) is, according to Google Maps, Hebron SDA Bilingual School. One source says the building if 40 years old, another says it was vacant for almost 30 years until 20 years ago. Those two statements don't agree. Apparently, there are lawsuits over the building.

Next, I'm taking New York Ave past my usual destination of Eastern Parkway and all the way to Crown Street. Of course, there's a Crown Street in Crown Heights.

Parallel to Rogers and Nostrand Aves is a one-block street, Dearborn Court.

Back on Crown Street, there were a couple of sights to see including trees, chairs, and the tracks of the Franklin Ave Shuttle.

I made it to the end of Crown Street and then walked along the Botanic Garden on Washington Ave so I could circle around to Franklin Ave by way of Carroll Street and a walking bridge over the railroad tracks.

Franklin ends at Empire Blvd and just like the afternoon, my trip was ending as well ... expect I went a little farther than I expected, passing the subway and then doubling back.

And that's it for this trip. Come back soon.

All of the above photos and videos, unless otherwise stated, were taken by Christopher J. Burke and are subject to copyright.

MY NEWEST BOOK IS AVAILABLE NOW!

Burke's Lore Briefs: Yesterday's Villains, the following to Tomorrow's Heroes is now available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.

If Heroes who don't die live long enough to become the villain, what happens to Villains who live long enough? When do schemes of global conquest become dreams of a quiet place away from all those annoying people you once wanted to subjugate? And does anyone really want to rule over the world's ashes if it means we can't have nice things?

My older books include three more books in my Burke's Lore Briefs series, and the anthologies A Bucket Full of Moonlight and In A Flash 2020.

Vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, used-car salesmen, fairies, superheroes, space and time travel, and little gray aliens talking to rock creatures and living plants.

Plus pirates, spies, horror, and kindergarten noir!

If you enjoy my books, please consider leaving a rating or review on Amazon or on Good Reads. Thank you!
