Newel, Diamond, Jewel, Humboldt, Broome, Eckford, Newton

More streets in Greenpoint to cross out my list, and then I walked to Bedford Ave in Williamsburg to catch the L train, allowing me to get a tiny half block that I missed along the way thanks to poor planning! Note to self: never confuse Newel and Jewel in the future, as I once did in the past.

The G took me to Greenpoint Ave. I walked down Manhattan Ave to Norman Ave just to get to the first new street that I needed to walk.

The first three blocks were Newel, Diamond (which I did a 180 turn and walked back down), and Jewel, between Normal and Nassau Aves.

This brought me to when Moultrie merges with Humboldt St. You can see the artwork on the building in the first photo. I took a closer picture after that.

The third and fourth pictures show a house where I stopped because I wanted a picture of the decorations. I stood in the street and waited for a couple of cars to pass to get the shot. The last car in the line decided to pull over even though I was standing right there. And then as soon as I try to take the picture around him -- HE BACKS UP HIS CAR INTO THE SHOT AGAIN! Just rude. He had to see me standing there, and even if he didn't realize that I wanted to take a picture with the phone in my hand, you'd think that he'd at least wonder if I wanted to cross the street and then wave me over before he started maneuvering (badly) into a parking space.

In picture 5, something about the front of the house shining in the sun made me want to take this photo. I don't remember why.

At the end of the row is St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, which I've mentioned before, was founded in 1904.

St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, which I've mentioned before, was founded in 1904.

Next up is Broome Street, which runs from Humboldt, across McGuinness Blvd, one more block to Graham Ave. This was followed by walking back those same two blocks.

The next part looks like I was trying to outline a constellation of some sort. I took Engert Ave back to Manhattan Ave. Turned around, walked back to Eckford Street. I went one block north and then two blocks south to get to Newton Street, which brought me back to Engert and Humboldt.

Humboldt goes to an end when it merges with McGuiness Blvd. However, once the street crosses under the BQE, it becomes Humboldt agin. Go figure. But that's not the direction I was headed.

There's a small plaza with a seating area, a large rectangular patch of brick, and a small greenspace. The area doesn't have a name. Looks like something that could be dedicated to someone. My assumption is that this was built to improve traffic flow.

Next, I went down Bayard St until I reach McCarren Park at Leonard Street. My goal was to get to a half block of Withers Street between Union Ave and the corner of N 9 Street and Havemeyer. Things like this are why you always need to have a plan! I walked the streets around the Bedford Ave train station a long time back when I was grading exams at a nearby high school. I'd walked down Union Ave another time. And I walked blocks on the other side of the highway during lunches from my current school.

This left a little orphan street that I just somehow missed because I wasn't paying attention.

This still happens, of course, especially if I have a radio or an audiobook.

On the way to the train, I passed Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, which is popular every year during their Feast, they moved the Giglio. I've known people that have been part of the team that lifts and moves it. I've never been there to see it in person though.

And that's it for this trip. Come back soon.

MY NEWEST BOOK IS AVAILABLE NOW!

Burke's Lore Briefs: Yesterday's Villains, the following to Tomorrow's Heroes is now available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.

If Heroes who don't die live long enough to become the villain, what happens to Villains who live long enough? When do schemes of global conquest become dreams of a quiet place away from all those annoying people you once wanted to subjugate? And does anyone really want to rule over the world's ashes if it means we can't have nice things?

My older books include three more books in my Burke's Lore Briefs series, and the anthologies A Bucket Full of Moonlight and In A Flash 2020.

Vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, used-car salesmen, fairies, superheroes, space and time travel, and little gray aliens talking to rock creatures and living plants.

Plus pirates, spies, horror, and kindergarten noir!

If you enjoy my books, please consider leaving a rating or review on Amazon or on Good Reads. Thank you!
