New Lots Ave / Ditmas Ave / Clarendon Rd
Cold temps, high winds (with their chills), and ridiculous amount of snow on the ground that just wouldn't go away confined my walks to the immediate neighborhood around my house -- and even then, I didn't go out very much. Very few walks in February. But soon it was time to march forth! Or, rather, I took a walk on March 4th.
Moving south along the L train to the New Lots Ave station. This was something new for me. I'm starting north of Linden Blvd but dropping below and crossing under Holy Cross Cemetery, heading west all the way to Flatbush Ave and beyond (to the Q line).
A quick walk down the end of the New Lots Ave brought me to Watkins St, which is only one block long, running to Linden Blvd. Linden brought me to Rockaway Ave, which quickly brought me to Ditams Ave. Ditmas was industrial in this area, and I found myself walking in the street alot.
I left Ditmas Ave when I got to Clarendon Road.
I'm not sure where the playground was, but I took a couple of photos. The third photo is one of those alleys that lead to everyone's garages behind their houses. I didn't walk this. My walk is long enough. I only walk these if they're a short cut that gets me to where I need to go.
Onward to Claredon Road. The second picture shows where Clarendon branches off from itself just before Kings Highway, pretty much for no reason whatsoever. This side street is parallel to the buildings on this block, so there's that. It's also a short cut to the service road, which merges later on with the main road of Kings Highway.
A shot of the houses on this one section of the road. The neighborhood changes, so I need to take multiple shots. Obviously, this gate caught my eye. The third picture? I dont' remember what caught my attention -- probably the contrast of the house on the corner and the towering building behind it. Everything changes.
First picture is another Ugly Building. Why do have have to make them ugly, lacking in any character? I guess if you have no character, you can't contrast the character of the neighborhood.
Second photo is the end of the road for Clarendon when I got to Flatbush.
Third and fourth photos are E22 Street which only runs a couple of blocks on the north (east) side of Flatbush Ave. The last part is behind a gate.
From there, there was a short walk down Duryea Place -- not to be confused with Duryea Court in Bensonhurst.
Once that was done, it was off to the train on Beverley Road, with an "e", as the final picture shows.
And that's it for this trip. Come back soon.
