Wythe Ave

A little over a week later, and there's more testing in high schools, so I had another chance for a morning walk. I filled in some missing streets in Williamsburg, south of the bridge and west of the BQE, with Wythe Ave being the longest of the ones I hadn't walked before. (At this point, I'm retracing my steps a lot.) Hiking up to the Bedford Ave L stop was the best choice for getting to work afterword although I considered walking the entire way.

I took a wrong turn from the start as I meant to walk down Havermeyer but instead turned onto Roebling a block later because of where I exited the train. But that's okay, I just swung around the long way to get to Lee Ave, which I took to Rodney Street (just before the BQE). Rodney is cut off after a block, and I looked to see if I could walk through the area, but it didn't seem like it. (Checking Goolge Maps, I probably would've zig-zagged so much that I might as well just walk around, which I did.)

So I took Williamsburg Street West, alongside the BQE, to get down past Wythe Street to Kent Avenue.

I looped around four blocks: Hewes Street (just a sliver on the map), followed by Hooper, Keap, and Rodney, each time walking back and forth on Wythe.

After that, I took Wythe to the north side of the bridge, walked east a block on S 5th Street, passing Stage 25, whatever that is(*), and came south again on Berry Street, ending up on Division Ave. My walk was done here, but now I had to get to work! I actually walked to Driggs Ave because it would be slightly shorter than taking Bedford because of the curves in the road. (I could be wrong about that, but it seemed to be true in the moment.)

(*) Google AI says that it's a film and television soundstage expansion project associated with Steiner Studios, which I guess I should Google next. It doesn't mention anything that's been produced there.

A few final shots of interesting architecture, including proof that "Williamsburgh" is spelt with an "h" when talking about the bank. And a picture of Peter Luger's, which I've never been to and likely never will go to unless someone invites me. (Seriously, I don't have friends who are both interested in going and could afford it, and I won't go there to dine alone.)

And that's it for this trip. Come back soon.

MY NEWEST BOOK IS AVAILABLE NOW!

7 Flashes of Science Fiction: When the day comes that humans head out into the stars, will we understand the messages we receive in space from alien civilizations? Or will the day come that aliens walk among us freely and openly on the streets on Manhattan? Will technology take over our lives to the point where we feel for it should it break down? Can dimensions be unfolded within tiny spaces yielding results that were not meant to be known?

And what if we had to leave it all behind and start over?

Explore the magic and wonders that space, time, and other dimemsions have to offer with 7 Flashes of Science Fiction.

My older books include three more books in my Burke's Lore Briefs series, and the anthologies A Bucket Full of Moonlight and In A Flash 2020.
